Y’all know I’m a huge Orange Theory Fitness fan — obsessed is putting it mildly. As wonderful as OTF workouts are, though, they don’t manage my nutrition. And as they say: your body is 20% fitness and 80% diet. I was feeling stuck in a rut, and I needed some help. Then: a light at the end of the tunnel… An email from CoPilot showed up in my inbox.
CoPilot is an app that pairs you up, one-on-one, with a fitness and nutrition expert. It first gives you a questionnaire asking you for your health and fitness history, your goals, and your priorities. The app then takes your answers and uses them to pair you up with a coach whose style best fits with your personality and goals. You then get an initial 40-minute online intake meeting with your coach which is where you talk about your goals, what’s kept you from meeting those goals previously, and what you’re willing to do to achieve them now.
In that initial meeting, my coach, Coach Max, and I discussed that while I felt my fitness was on track, I needed more help with my nutrition. I was very firm that I did not want to count macros. I was willing to loosely count calories, but I did not want to become so obsessed with my meals that I couldn’t just enjoy what was on my plate. I still want to go out to eat without asking with what type of oil the fish is prepared! I want to live my life, but I want to eat healthier while I am doing it. So, we made two goals:
1. To drink at least three glasses (24 oz) of water a day. Don’t judge, but I will legit go entire days without drinking anything. That’s just how I am. I know it’s unhealthy, hence, why I’m making water consumption a goal.
2. To make a grocery list on Friday, and actually go grocery shopping on Monday. This is just what works best for my schedule, but the point of the goal is to actually make a list and go shopping using that list. I am horrible at grocery shopping ATM, but it’s just because I am so busy at random times that getting to the grocery store is challenging. So, well balanced meals are hard to come by. And no, I will not let my husband go shopping for groceries because… husbands. IYKYK. I’m picky, and I have control issues. So, shopping needs to be on my schedule.
It's only been a month, but the water goal is really sticking! Not every day, but I am making a concerted effort to incorporate drinking water with my natural routine. As for the grocery shopping… it’s proven itself to be a little more challenging. But this is just the start! Coach Max is encouraging me, and our ongoing partnership is proving to be well worth the commitment. If YOU are interested in checking out the CoPilot app, head to the link in my Instagram profile!
